The Board of Inclusion Europe elected Mateja de Reya as vice-president of the organisation.
Mateja de Reya was elected as vice-president of Inclusion Europe for the next 2 years. Mateja was elected during a Board meeting on 26 – 27 November 2024.
Mateja de Reya is from Slovenia. Mateja is a sister to a person with intellectual disabilities. Mateja works as director of Zveza Sožitje, member of Inclusion Europe. Mateja has been member of Inclusion Europe board for many years.

“I am looking forward to continuing our important work advocating for full rights and inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities and their families,” Mateja said.
Mateja replaces previous vice-president Theresa Shearer. Theresa Shearer resigned from the Board of Inclusion Europe.
“I want to thank Theresa for all her work as board member and vice-president,” said Jyrki Pinomaa, president of Inclusion Europe. “Theresa has helped us with many things, including on strategy and development of Inclusion Europe. “During her term at our board, Enable hosted great Europe in Action conference, too.”
Also on the agenda of the Board
- Learning about situation in Albania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania, and Slovakia. Member organisations from these countries work on improving self-advocacy, and promoting deinstitutionalisation.
- Preparing Inclusion Europe events for the next 2 years, such as members meeting and general assembly (4 June 2025 in Berlin), Hear our Voices! self-advocacy conference, or Europe in Action conference 2026.
- Discussing Inclusion Europe work at European level. For example the Inclusion indicators 2024 report.
- Debating how to advocate for more action to end segregation of people with intellectual disabilities in institutions. For example with platforms to debate and learn from existing work, or trainings on this subject as those done as part of Together+ project. The board learned about the progress on other Inclusion Europe projects too.
